Nikita Kucherov Breaks His Silence And Reveals Why He Demanded A Trade.

We finally have some answers to the questions that have been on the mind of just about every fan around the National Hockey League over the weekend.

On Friday, the shocking news that the NHL's reigning Most Valuable Player, two-time Hart Trophy winner Nikita Kucherov, was officially done with the only team he had ever played for and had demanded a trade. On Monday Kucherov made it clear that, while he wants out, he will continue to honor his teammates by playing to the full extent of his abilities while he remains a member of the Lightning.

"For now I'm part of this team and I will do anything I can to help my teammates win," said Kucherov.

While that may sound like a player that would be willing to reconcile under the right circumstances, when he was asked that question directly Kucherov made it clear he has made up his mind.

"I made my request and yeah," said Kucherov leaving no doubt about his decision.

Kucherov even revealed why he wants out, citing a lack of communication and respect and blaming one man in particular.

"It was never about the money for me, it was more about poor communication and respect," revealed Kucherov. "Over the last 4 months we've only had two conversations and Julien [Brisebois] at the end made it clear I'm free to walk on July 1st."

Bombshell comments from the NHL's reigning MVP.
