Oddsmakers are convinced they know where Auston Matthews will land if he’s done with Toronto!

Quite controversial if you ask me!

Toronto Maple Leafs superstar forward Auston Matthews has a year left on his five-year, $58.17 million contract, but he expressed interest Monday in signing an extension before next season begins.

Ever since, reporters and insiders have mentioned how Matthews is likely to became the highest paid player in the league, with Toronto almost already celebrating the monster contract before Matthews has signed the dotted line.

Because there could still be a chance he does not stay with the Maple Leafs. That’s what the Toronto Sun is pointing out, using the odds from BetOnline.ag to predict where Matthews could land if he is done in Toronto.

“The latest odds have the Chicago Blackhawks to be the favourite to land Matthews if he has indeed played his last game for the Maple Leafs” you can read in the Sun.

Oddsmakers are giving the advantage to the Hawks, who have won the 2023 draft lottery last week and phenom Connor Bedard is the projected first overall pick that will likely be the new face of the franchise in Chicago.

Next are the Arizona Coyotes at 3/1, the New York Rangers at 5/1 and the Los Angeles Kings and Vegas Golden Knights, both at 6/1.

But come on, and I’m saying this to The Sun AND the oddsmakers in Vegas : Matthews is more than likely staying put in Toronto, where he is coming off his fourth consecutive season with at least 40 goals.
