The Stanley Cup Playoffs is one of the most grueling tournaments in all of professional sports and trying to predict who will make it through that grind healthy enough to eventually raise hockey's holy grail is an almost impossible task to accomplish. That being said it does not stop oddsmakers from doing their best to guess exactly that each and every year, and interestingly enough a new set of odds released this week now have a somewhat surprising new team at the very top of the mountain.

The people over at Moneypuck regularly release odds for every team that remains in the race and it provides a very interesting look at where oddsmakers see things going over the next several weeks. Of course no system of prediction is ever going to be perfect and all of these odds have to be taken with a healthy degree of skepticism, but if you're interested in learning what some of the top analytical minds in the business are thinking in regards to the way things are shaping out in the National Hockey League there are few places that provide an easier to digest chart than Moneypuck.

So who is the new odds on favorite. Well according to new data released from Moneypuck just minutes ago at the time of this writing, the suddenly surging Philadelphia Flyers have now claimed the top spot with a 12.7% chance of winning it all. Now that may not seem like a very big number and that is the case for good reason, not only are there a ton of teams still in the hunt this season but, again, the Stanley Cup Playoffs are a brutal tournament where truly anything can happen.

We've got some pretty interesting teams rounding out the top 5 as well. The Las Vegas Golden Knights are currently in second with an 11.6% chance of winning it all, odds that could very well increase in the next few weeks if newly acquired Robin Lehner continues to perform the way he did in his first game as a Golden Knight. Perennial contenders the Boston Bruins round out the top 3 with a 9% chance of winning it all and they are closely followed by the Washington Capitals at 8% and the Tampa Bay Lightning are less than 1% behind them at 7.4%. Things get much tighter from there and you can check out the full chart just below.
