Their latest hope between the pipes.
The Edmonton Oilers have acquired goaltender Devon Levi and a seventh-round pick in 2028 from the Buffalo Sabres in return for a third-round pick in the 2028 NHL Draft.
The deal was made in the madness of Day 1 of Free Agency on Wednesday.
The young netminder, who is just 24 years old, went 23-20-9 with the AHL’s Rochester Americans last season with a .904 save percentage and 2.83 goals-against average. He later put up a 1-2 record in the playoffs with a 2.71 GAA and .919 save percentage, before his team lost in the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs. He has a career 17-17-2 record with the Sabres.
Levi is entering the final season of a two-year, $1.625 million contract that carries a cap hit of $812,000. He is scheduled to become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2026-27 campaign.
This is another shot at finding the right fit in net for Edmonton. I wonder if this is the right one.
