The Edmonton Oilers have decided to sign free agent forward Kyle Turris to a two-year contract and fans are reacting quite strongly to this one. He is signed until the 2021-22 season at a $1.65M annual salary.

Some fans see it as a terrific signing, others are doubting Turris still has production to offer in the NHL.

Turris’ game will have to be elevated, seeing the terrible season he had last year with the Nashville Predators. The team bought him out last week and had been pushed onto the unrestricted free agent market.

He could find his game back in Edmonton under head coach Dave Tippett where Turris could give the Oilers the needed boost they lack as a third-line centreman.

The 31-year-old had nine goals and 22 assists last season for the Preds, which, as we’ve mentioned above, is what makes Oilers fans quite nervous about the signing.

However, Turris is heading into his 13th NHL season and this could be the change of scenery he needs to get going ahead, especially with the help of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.
