The Edmonton Oilers have just taken a big hit ahead of their Sunday night game.

The Oilers are set to face off against the Arizona Coyotes just minutes from the time of this writing but they will be without one of their big offensive pieces this evening. According to an official announcement from the Oilers organization forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has suffered a hand injury and is now expected to miss a minimum of two games as a result of that injury.

Obviously this will impact the Oilers ahead of tonight's game against the Coyotes, a team that is not only a division rival but a rival that has been hot on their heels thanks to some very solid performances as of late. We unfortunately do not have more details regarding this injury for Nugent-Hopkins but if more information does become available we will share it with you in short order.

Nugent-Hopkins had previously appeared in 25 games for the Oilers in the 2019 - 2020 National Hockey League regular season and was off to a decent start with 5 goals and 10 assists for a total of 15 points. Nugent-Hopkins also has 12 penalty minutes to his name this season and boasts a plus minus rating of -4.
