Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch confirms his starting goalie for Game 1
The puck drops at 6:30pm PT!
Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed today that goaltender Calvin Pickard will get the start at T-Mobile Arena for Game 1 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Pickard, of course, took over for Oilers starter Stuart Skinner in Round 1 against the Los Angeles Kings and it looks now like Knoblauch and the Oilers will turn to Pickard for the rest of the post-season. Assuming Pickard can carry the load, of course.
The 33 year old Pickard put up a 2.93 goals against average and a .893 save percentage in the 1st round against the Kings after a 36 game regular season with the Oilers. A journeyman who has bounced back and forth between the NHL and AHL his entire career, this past season was the first season in his career where he has remained entirely in the NHL for the full campaign.
