To say that goaltender Jack Campbell did not exactly live up to the contract in his first season with the Oilers would be an understatement. For the first half of the year, he sported a goals against average of just under 4.00, a save percentage well below .900, and zero shutouts.

And those struggles continued into this season, culminating in the team deciding to send him to the minors earlier this month after nobody claimed him on waivers.

And it looks as though the Oilers have allowed Campbell the option of employing some outside help. According to NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman, Campbell was allowed to work with former Columbus Blue Jackets goaltending coach Manny Legace in an effort to help put his confidence and game back together.

Additionally, Friedman indicated that it is the team's preference to have Campbell back with the Oilers if his can rediscover his game.

"I still do believe that its [the Oiler's] first choice to have Campbell rejoin the team and improve his play," he said.
