The Edmonton Oilers take an early lead after a 36 second offensive explosion.
The Edmonton Oilers have taken an early lead in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final thanks to a 36 second offensive explosion that has put the Dallas Stars firmly on their heels.
It would be Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard who would open the scoring in Game 3 when he fired off a shot from near the blue line that somehow found its way through traffic before bouncing off the post and making its way past Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger.
With that goal Bouchard now leads all active defensemen in the National Hockey League for playoff goals per game, a rather impressive stat for the 25 year old blue liner and yet another sign that he consistently finds a way to elevate his game during the most important games of the season.
The Oilers weren't done there however as just 36 seconds later it would be Oilers captain Connor McDavid who would find the net yet again.
The Oilers were gifted a three on one after an awkward situation at the Oilers end of the ice, and that in turn resulted in a lovely give and go play between McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, one that left Oettinger with very little chance as Nugent-Hopkins had 2 passing options as well as the option to shoot it himself.
A tough start to this one for the Dallas Stars but there is still plenty of hockey left to play in today's game.
