Oilers GM Ken Holland ignores fans in urgent demand!

You know he’s the one making the call...

On Monday night, the Edmonton Oilers suffered a third straight loss with an overtime defeat to Nashville Predators and the team’s fanbase feels it’s been more than patient.

Now, they want general manager Ken Holland to make some changes.

However, as Mark Spector reports, Holland is not about to give in despite taking serious social-media heat over the weekend.

“I know people don’t want to hear this,” Holland explained to Spector on Sunday evening. “But just look at the 32 teams in the National Hockey League: How many trades are going on? Teams are going in ebbs and flows all over the place. There are about six teams that are smooth sailing at the top, and there’s about six at the bottom. There’s 20 teams in the middle that are going up and down.”

Holland mentioned the lack of transactions before the Toronto Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche came together for a trade.

Either way, the Oilers’ GM is in no rush to make trades since he still believes Edmonton will emerge as a contender. There is still time, he says.

“Other than maybe Mike Smith and Duncan Keith, this is a group that went (30-11-4) in the last 46 games last season. It was the third-best record in the National Hockey League,” he recalled. “I’ve seen this group do it. I watched them go to the final four.

“Every time we have a bit of a blip, I can’t go out and make a trade.”

The fans have heard you, Ken, but I don’t think that will stop them from giving you heat on social media.

The Oilers face the Dallas Stars later today, and it would be a good time for them to put an end to this losing streak, especially if the team and Holland want a break in all the trade chatter and the fans’ demands…
