Something's got to give in Edmonton...

Look... let's not sugar-coat things: The Edmonton Oilers' goaltending has been abysmal. For years now, really.

Oilers GM Stan Bowman has failed to address his team's deficiencies in goal and the team is suffering the consequences. Starter Stuart Skinner ranks 34th amongst NHL goaltenders by goals against average and 52nd by save percentage. Backup Calvn Pickard ain't much better...

So... something's got to give, right?

Enter: Juuse Saros.

As bad as the Oilers' goaltending has been, the team hasn't been nearly as bad as the Nashville Predators. And with the Preds looking down the barrel of another wasted season, there are reports that Saros could be in play on the trade market.

From NHL insider Jeff Marek:

"I do wonder about Juuse Saros as well. If the Predators are going to go through a rebuild, I think you have that conversation with the goaltender."

Fellow NHL insider Frank Seravalli also issued a bit of a report on Saros and the Oilers today:

Seravalli points out that Saros is in just year 1 of an 8 year deal that takes him until 39 years old. That's... that's not a good deal. But, could the Oilers get him at a discount given his contract?
