Oilers make a decision on Mattias Ekholm for Game 4
The veteran defenseman hasn't played an NHL game in over six weeks.
This just in, Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch has confirmed that veteran defenseman Mattias Ekholm will NOT make his return to the lineup this evening when the Oilers take on the Dallas Stars in Game 4 of the Western Conference Final.
Additionally, Knoblauch announced that goaltender Calvin Pickard will back up Stuart Skinner.
Meanwhile, Dallas Stars head coach Pete DeBoer announced that forward Roope Hintz will be a game-time decision this evening.
Hintz was taken out of action after receiving a slash from Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse in the third period of Game 2. The Stars were understandably quite upset about the injury and unsuccessfully appealed to the league for a suspension.
