Not gonna lie... I'll be praying for a scrap between these two next season.
This just in, the Edmonton Oilers have signed forward Aku Raty to a one year contract for the 2026-27 season worth $850,000.
The 25 year old forward played this past season in his native Finland, scoring 20 goals and 57 points in 50 games with Karpat. He previously was in the Arizona Coyotes / Utah Mammoth organization, but managed only one NHL game with the Coyotes back in 2024. Ironically, his first and only NHL game to date was the Coyotes' final game in the NHL on April 17th, 2024.
Raty has quietly battled his way through a winding pro hockey journey, showing the kind of determination scouts love to see. While he never arrived with superstar hype, the hardworking forward continued grinding for opportunities with strong two-way play and relentless effort. Now pushing to establish himself full-time in North America, Räty remains an intriguing underdog story — the type of player who refuses to let his hockey dream die quietly.
Raty, of course, is the older brother of Vancouver Canucks player Aatu Raty.
With Aatu taking a step forward for the Canucks this past season and with his team embracing a full-scale rebuild in the coming years, it won't be a surprise to see the younger Raty play a more full-time role moving forward. Here's hoping that the brothers get to face off against others for years to come in the NHL's Pacific Division.
