Oilers star player calls out Jesse Puljujarvi amongst trade saga!

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujarvi signed a one-year deal with Oulun Kärpät in Finland’s Liiga, but the contract includes a clause that would allow him to return to the NHL before Dec. 1.

Therefore, we could see him back in the NHL this year.

However, we hope his GM Ken Holland will be able to trade him because it feels like there might be some animosity towards him in the Oilers’ dressing room.

On Wednesday, one of his teammates, star player Leon Draisaitl was asked about the ongoing situation as he attends the annual BioSteel camp and the top forward expressed to TSN his dislike of the saga in his short statement.

"You obviously want guys to pan out and want guys to help you on your team, but again, it seems like he doesn't want to be on our team as of right now. Maybe that changes. But again, we have people that are paid a lot of money to make those decisions."

Draisaitl did leave the door open to Puljujarvi, hoping the kid might change his mind about his desire to play for Edmonton, however, it’s easy to tell the current roster might be interested in getting a young player who is not willing to give this new management and head coach a chance to get better and make this club a contender.

It remains to be seen what will happen with Puljujarvi in the months leading to Dec. 1st. However for now, he will be busy in Finland while the Oilers kick off the season and - let’s hope - a new chapter in franchise’s history.
