Oilers’ Stuart Skinner furious after being pulled from last night’s game!
The goalie isn’t pleased with how it all went down. Full story below:
The Edmonton Oilers did not have a great night on Thursday against the Winnipeg Jets. Not only they did play the game without star forward Leon Draisaitl in the lineup, they also lost captain Connor McDavid and goalie Stuart Skinner during the contest.
McDavid was forced to leave the game after a suspected lower-body injury. He appeared in discomfort during the second period after a questionable play from Jets defenseman, and former Team Canada teammate, Josh Morrissey. He did not return to the third period, and Edmonton went on to lose 4-3 in overtime. After the game, there was little to no update on the captain.
It was later reported that McDavid, and teammate Leon Draisaitl, have imaging scheduled today to better understand severity of injuries and timelines to return to play.
As for Skinner, the goalie was pulled from the game. He recorded 13 saves for the Oilers before being involved in a late-game net front collision and removed due to concussion protocols.
When the spotter forced him out the game, Skinner was reportedly furious with the decision.
After the game, head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed the concussion spotter made the call on Skinner, but did not offer an update on his netminder.
“It wouldn’t have been me. And Skinner obviously didn’t want to come out,” he said. “It was the spotter.”
Calvin Pickard took over in the crease, and fans now await to see what’s up with Skinner ahead of Saturday’s game in Edmonton against the Seattle Kraken.
