Skinner or Pickard?
Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch wouldn't commit to goaltender Stuart Skinner as his team's starter for Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final when asked by the media earlier today, leading to speculation online that Calvin Pickard could draw in.
From Knoblauch:
While Skinner wasn't at his best last night, but I don't think he's to blame for the Oilers' blowout loss. The Oilers were pretty bad from top to bottom and while that includes Skinner, he deserves a chance to reclaim the crease.
We've seen throughout this post-season that Skinner runs hot and cold, so he could be an absolute world beater in Game 4. At this point, you've got to dance with the date you brough to the party and for the Oilers that's Skinner.
Now, having said all that, if Skinner is shaky in Game 4 then you keep him on a short leash. Pickard has shown that he can come in on short notice, so you make sure he's ready in Game 4 if he's needed and you throw Skinner in to see what happens.
