Ken Holland is freeing up some salary cap space. The latest from NHL insider Darren Dreger.
According to a report from TSN insider Darren Dreger, the Edmonton Oilers are close to shipping forward Zack Kassian and his $3.2 million annual contract to the Arizona Coyotes. It's unclear what the return would be for the Oilers, but it's presumed to be a salary cap move so that the team can dedicate more money to pending free agent Evander Kane.
From Dreger:
Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman confirms it (kinda) and also reports that Toronto Maple Leafs netminder Petr Mrazek has been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks.
Stay tuned, Oilers fans.
