While it has long been rumored that talented winger Kyle Okposo will become a free agent, and eventually leave the Islanders, today we received about as close to official confirmation of that fact from Okposo's agent Pat Brisson.
In his recent rumblings article ESPN insider Pierre LeBrun touched on the situation between Okposo and the Isles, specifically general manager Garth Snow, and based on the comments he reports were made by Brisson there's little doubt.
His agent, Pat Brisson, did recently chat with Isles GM Garth Snow, but it doesn’t sound like anything developed. "All indications are that we’re headed to free agency with Kyle,’’ Brisson said Monday.
In an interesting story that may be linked to this one, Islanders' insider Arthur Staple revealed his belief that the Montreal Canadiens had their eyes set on Okposo in free agency this summer.
