Oliver Ekman-Larsson has found a new team!

The recently bought out defenseman has reportedly signed a new deal as a free agent.

It took very little time for Oliver Ekman-Larsson to find a new home.

In spite of the fact that free agency hasn't even officially opened up yet, with the official start time set for noon today, there are already reports that veteran NHL defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson may be the first name off the board.

According to a report from NHL insider Darren Dreger, Ekman-Larsson has agreed to a 1 year deal with the Florida Panthers. That new deal will see him earn $2.25 million, which will also be his cap hit for this upcoming season, a massive step down from the average annual value of $8.25 million he had on his last deal prior to being bought out by the Vancouver Canucks.

Ekman-Larsson is coming off a season he would likely rather forget, one that saw him put up 2 goals and 20 assists over 54 games and finish the season with an abysmal plus minus rating of -25. In spite of this it would appear that the Florida Panthers have at least some confidence that he can regain his form as a member of their roster come next season.
