Despite brutal season it sounds like he will get a contract.

Despite what can only be characterized as a terrible season, it sounds like veteran National Hockey League goaltender Ondrej Pavelec is about to earn himself another NHL contract.

TSN insider Darren Dreger is reporting that the New York Rangers are currently having ongoing discussion with Pavelec, or his representation, presumably with the intent of signing the 29-year-old netminder.

Needless to say, this move is highly unlikely to satisfy a very upset Rangers fan base that appeared to largely disagree with the decision to move on from highly-talented backup Antti Raanta.

Pavelec played in just 8 NHL games last season, posting a 3.55 goals against average and a brutal .888 save percentage.
