One contender ruled out as Corey Perry’s landing spot!
Talks say he ends up in Canada, but one team is out:

As soon as it was confirmed that veteran forward Corey Perry is eligible to sign with other teams following a meeting with NHL commissioner Gary Bettman, rumours surface on where the free agent could end up. Perry, whose one-year, $4 million contract was terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks at the end of November 2023, would need to sign by the March 8 trade deadline in order to be eligible for this year’s playoffs.
It has been reported that some teams have their due diligence and inquired about Perry, and chatter has linked him to a potential return to Canada.
The Edmonton Oilers are believed to be front-runners for the veteran forward, while Frank Seravalli has ruled out another Canadian team that has been mentioned as a possible landing spot for Perry. The insider does not believe the Toronto Maple Leafs will go after the former Blackhawk.
“Outside of Edmonton, I don’t really think Toronto’s in the mix,” Seravalli said, ruling out other teams like the Calgary Flames, and the Montreal Canadiens or Ottawa Senators, who aren’t in playoff contention.
While it was a messy and controversial situation for Perry in Chicago, he remains in good standing in the league and could join a contender prior to the trade deadline. It would be a good way to move on from his contract termination from the Blackhawks and denied rumors that he had a relationship with Melanie Bedard, mother of former teammate Connor Bedard. Perry was reportedly dismissed from the team for inappropriate and unacceptable conduct, fuelled by alcohol consumption. But Perry could however be a great addition to any team and as we get closer to the postseason.
However, it sounds like that won’t happen in Toronto.
Perry had four goals and five assists in 16 games this season, his first in Chicago.
