After the news came down that Steve Mason had been injured at practice, it seemed like a death knell to the Flyers already rough season. It was without question terrible news, for all but one man. It now appears, as a result of the Mason injury, 33 year old goal tender Rob Zepp may finally get his shot at the National Hockey League. Zepp has played the vast majority of his career, in the DEL, and there was no hiding his disappointment when he was sent down to the Phantoms after training camp this year. However with back to back games this week end Zepp, who has a .918 save percentage in the very offensive focused AHL, will likely get his shot at the big club. Zepp spoke to CSN Philly about his career, and his thoughtso n playing in the NHL.
“Throughout your career, you always have your doubts.” “I always believed in myself and I could do it. I just needed an opportunity. One presented itself in the summer with the Flyers and another has presented itself now.”
With very little left to cheer for, Flyers fans may have one thing to look forward to heading into the week end.
