It came as a bomb on Tuesday when allegations that new Columbus Blue Jackets head coach Mike Babcock had acted inappropriately and violated players’ privacy when asking to see photos on their cellphones.

The allegations were brought forward by former NHL player Paul Bissonnette, who said on the Spittin’ Chiclets” podcast that earlier this summer, captain Boone Jenner was asked to meet with Babcock. The bench boss then asked to see images on Jenner’s camera roll before displaying them via AirPlay on his office wall.

Since the report came out, both Babcock and Jenner have denied the allegations. But it hasn’t stop Mike Commodore, an NHL veteran of 484 games, to add oil to the fire.

Commodore, who played under Babcock for 17 games in Detroit in 2011-2012, has been vocal for years on his hate for the head coach. Late on Tuesday night, Commodore called Babcock a “pervert.”

We all knew that Babcock would be under much scrutiny when coming back to the NHL, especially after he was fired in Toronto when an incident with Mitch Marner was made public.

Commodore has criticized Babs’ return to the NHL more than once and often commented on how the head coach has been a bully in the past. The former pest says Babcock has has tried this stunt and many others to gain power and leverage over his players.

This statement from Commodore certainly adds to this developing story and will only get more heat on Babcock in Columbus.

And the 2023-24 season hasn’t even started…
