New York Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello held a rare offseason press availability today, where he took questions from the assembled reporters at UBS Arena at Belmont Park.

One of the burning questions for Lamoriello was about the future of veteran forward Zach Parise, a Lamoriello favorite. The 39 year old Parise is still unsigned for the upcoming season, but he has a history of signing one year deals with Lamoriello just prior to training camp. So... one more time? Well, it doesn't appear so. Lamoriello confirmed that Parise will not be at Islanders training camp this fall and that the team is not planning to offer him a contract.

More from Isles insider Arthur Staple:

To me, this sounds like Parise's NHL days are over. After all, Lamoriello sure seems like the only GM willing to give a contract to Parise these days.

Something tells me that Parise is gonna be juuuuuuust fine though. With over $110 million in career earnings, he is one of the richest players in NHL history.
