The response from fans is not good....
Normally when a team in the National Hockey League announces that tickets are going on sale for the upcoming season it is a cause for celebration, but on Monday the Toronto Maple Leafs got a very different kind of response from their own fan base when they made that exact announcement.
Rather than celebrating the fact that games are once again right around the corner, fans of the Maple Leafs flooded their social media replies with comments about what the fans clearly feel is the outrageous prices of tickets for Maple Leafs games. It was so bad that I would argue the backlash about the ticket pricing was the majority of the responses, with a seemingly endless supply of angry fans in Toronto.
While the general complaints about the pricing dominated the conversation, there seems to be one hot button issue in particular that has both fans and pundits alike in sheer disbelief. For certain games standing room only tickets are priced upwards of $270, prompting many to call out the team for gouging fans.
There will of course be no stopping the skyrocketing ticket prices as long as the demand is there and based on the angry reaction today there's no shortage of demand in the City of Toronto.
I would love to hear what you think of this latest debacle in the comments.
