Fans are frustrated and the season just got underway.
The 2025-26 season got underway just four days ago on Tuesday night and fans finally had some great hockey to watch after the long offseason. On Thursday night, a total of 14 games were played with great action all across the league and a surprise crazy ending in the game between the Vegas Golden Knights and San Jose Sharks.
Fans woke up on Friday morning, ready for more, but then quickly found out that the NHL was back with its very confusing and frustrating scheduling.
There are no games on Friday night after 28 teams were in action last night, and all 32 clubs will be playing on Saturday.
And it does not end there: on Sunday, there is only one game to the program.
Fans expressed their frustration online, unable to understand why, after just four days into the season, the NHL would already make such terrible decisions on scheduling.
“Peak NHL scheduling is back!” says one fan.
“Truly baffling how bad they are scheduling I don’t understand. Bettman loves sabotaging his own product,” answered another.
A lot more comments on the NHL scheduling keep trending on social media, but let’s just say most are using profanities to express their frustration and disappointment…
Even top insiders like Pierre LeBrun commented on the bizarre scheduling on Friday morning:
"No NHL games tonight. Between 28 teams playing last night and all 32 teams playing Saturday, Friday got squeezed. Not ideal obviously," he wrote on X.
This will always be an issue with the NHL and their fans, who will have to do something else later tonight and will have a crazy busy Saturday.
