Outrageous trade rumour about Patrick Kane surfaces!

The changes in Chicago might be too much for Kane…

Trade chatter has gone from murmurs to full-on screaming in Chicago ever since general manager Stan Bowman sent out a letter to the season-ticket holders to let them know the team was committed to a rebuild after trading winger Brandon Saad and allowing veteran goaltender Corey Crawford to leave in free agency this month.

This is hard to swallow for players like captain Jonathan Toews, star forward Patrick and veteran defensemen Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook, who have openly criticized the moves in the past weeks.

And you know where this is going. While Bowman maintains he has spoken with his star players to make sure they’re on board, that hasn’t stopped trade rumours from emerging and one crazy one was said on the air of 91,9 Sports in Montreal when former NHL enforcer Georges Laraque suggested an outrageous move in order to get Kane on the Canadiens’ roster.

He believes that Habs GM Marc Bergevin should offer young forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi, top prospect Cole Caufield and a first-round pick in return for Kane, whose salary would be split in two with half remaining on the books in Chicago.

You have to admit this is pretty far fetched. Bergevin would have to dump some salary to make it happen, though his team would be on the fast track to be a top contender. Kane recorded 33 goals and 51 assists last season. The 31-year-old earns $10.5 million per season and his deal still has three more years to go.

We bet it would be tempting for both clubs, but we can say do not hold your breath on this one.

If you’re Bowman or Bergevin are you tempted by this suggestion or is this just too much for you to pull the trigger?
