Ovechkin fails to meet GM's expectations!

Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin has received a lot of criticism over the years, especially considering that his team can never seem to find success in the post-season. This offseason the Russian superstar received even more criticism than usual whens fans and experts questioned his conditioning after a shirtless video of Ovi went viral at his wedding.

General manager Brian MacLellan mentioned on several occasions that his star player must adjust his game and conditioning. Ovechkin was listed at 6 foot 3 and 239-pounds last season. Too much weight indeed for Ovi to carry given his age and the quickening pace of the NHL.

In an interview with Isabelle Khurshudyan, Ovi revealed that he did not lose any weight over the summer.

However, the current roster for the team reveals that Ovechkin's weight is now 235. Maybe he did lose four pounds over the course of the offseason, but management and fans expected more.

Teammates did say that something was different about their captain. Many pointed out how happier he seems. Let's hope that is enough for him and his crew to make a long run in the playoffs this spring.
