Ovechkin passes Gretzky to establish a new NHL scoring record
Is Ovi the greatest goal scorer in NHL history?
HockeyFeed
This just in, Washington Capitals superstar captain Alex Ovechkin has officially passed The Great One Wayne Gretzky for the most 40+ goal seasons in NHL history.
With his 1st period goal against the Columbus Blue Jackets Ovechkin has hit the 40 goal plateau for the 13th time in his nearly two decade long career.
All that's left now is for Ovechkin to surpass Gretzky's 894 total career goals to become the NHL's all-time goal scoring leader. He's currently at 820 goals and if he keeps up his 40+ goal pace for the next two seasons it should be easy as pie.
