This is the stuff that hockey is all about.

The Washington Capitals were on the road on Saturday night when they faced off against the Calgary Flames at the Saddledome, but they were not without their supporters in attendance that evening. One young man in particular stood out due to his level of excitement during the game and it appears that members of the Washington Capitals took notice of their young supporter in the audience at some point during the game.

The young man appeared to be at the game with his mom and dad and to his credit he was rocking the jersey of his favorite player, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, in a building full of hostile Flames fans. After the game Ovechkin skated over to the young fan and you could immediately see the little guy get overcome with joy as his hero skated towards him, only for him to be shocked just a moment later.

Ovechkin skated straight towards him and seemingly without saying a word merely put his stick over the glass, handing it to the adult that was next to the kid, an adult who gave it to the young man just seconds later. All the different emotions that went through his face in the next several seconds that follow provided a priceless look into the mind of a young hockey fan.

At first the young man smiled from ear to ear before covering his mouth in disbelief at what had just happened, only to then almost freeze in shock as he stared at the object in his hands as if not believing it was really there. He saved the best for last however as he then began to shake the stick violently, all that joy inside of him bursting out in a moment of pure euphoria, one that he shared with the whole world thanks to the good work of the National Hockey League's cameramen.

It was an amazing gesture from Ovechkin, one that he certainly was under no obligation to do especially not in a hostile building during an away game. Those few seconds however likely produced a memory that this young man will cherish for the rest of his life.
