Over 25 players added to the Covid list on Sunday... so far.
Another bad day for the NHL.
The National Hockey League has been forced to shut down operations for the time being due to the fact that there has been a massive surge in Covid cases around the league in recent weeks. In spite of the shutdown however we continue to see more and more players land on the Covid protocol list, and on Sunday we saw over 25 names added in a single day.
We're going to get right into it, so here are the players who were recently added to the list:
Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers announced on Sunday that Sean Couturier had been added to the list, although this is apparently retroactive to the 21st of December, and also added Ryan Ellis to the list as well.
New York Islanders
The Islanders added a whopping 4 players to the list today, not the kind of news you want if you're having as bad of a season as the Islanders are. The players added to the list are Anthony Beauvillier, Cal Clutterbuck, Zach Parise and Oliver Wahlstrom.
Florida Panthers
The Panthers have also added 4 players to the list on Sunday, their list includes Jonathan Huberdeau, Eetu Luostarinen, Owen Tippett, and MacKenzie Weegar.
Pittsburgh Penguins
The Pittsburgh Penguins only have one name they will be adding to the list today and Evan Rodrigues is the unlucky winner.
Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings have added a pair of names to the list. Both Mason Raymond and Nick Leddy have joined a number of Red Wings on the sideline.
New Jersey Devils
The Devils will also be adding a pair of names to the list, Tomas Tatar and Jon Gillies.
Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres also have 2 players joining those on the list today, Dylan Cozens and Mark Jankowski
Dallas Stars
The Stars have a huge number of players joining the list today, 5 including Radek Faksa, Miro Heiskanen, Joel Kiviranta, Michael Raffl and Jason Robertson.
Tampa Bay Lightning
A bad day for the Lightning as well with Pierre-Edouard Bellemare, Mikhail Sergachev, Andrei Vasilevskiy and Brian Elliott all added to the list today.
Toronto Maple Leafs
Leafs only have 1 name added to the list but that's probably because most of their players are already on there, Jake Muzzin will join a long list of Leafs in Covid protocols.
Update: According to NHL insider Frank Seravalli that number has now ballooned to "at least 42" so we are expecting additional announcements shortly.
