As part of the NHL’s 100th anniversary, the league has conducted a survey of 3.6 million hockey fans to determine which team is the greatest in NHL history. The results? The 1984-85 Edmonton Oilers.

The team features no shortage of star power with Hall of Famers like Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Fuhr and Coffey on the roster. The ’84-85 Oilers cruised to a 49-20-11 regular season and ultimately defeated the Philadelphia Flyers to repeat as Stanley Cup champions.

During that run Gretzky established a new NHL record for assists (30) and points (47) in a single postseason. Incredibly, he also had seven goals in the team’s five games series against the Flyers.

Ladies and gentlemen, the greatest team ever: The 1984-85 Edmonton Oilers.
