Former NHL defenseman P.K. Subban loves the attention. And so again on Tuesday night, he was back in the spotlight when a trend on social media got him caught up in another scandal on the air of ESPN.

Fans and pundits started to point, following the Carolina Hurricanes’s Game 4 win over the Devils that one member of the ESPN panel was being too biased towards New Jersey.

Immediately, Subban took on his Twitter account to rebuff the accusations.

As you know in the second round, this is not the first time Subban lands in hot water. Last week, the former NHLer was heavily criticized for fat-shaming pop star Lizzo when commenting the Toronto Maple Leafs’ performance during Game 1 of the second round of the playoffs agains the Florida Panthers. ESPN co-host John Buccigross explained that Toronto needed to “pack a lunch,” referencing the team’s lack of energy, to which Subban answered:

“Listen, maybe they need to pack a Lizzo-sized lunch,” Subban said, referring to the plus-size Grammy-winning rapper.

Fans called out Subban for his fat-shaming comments, and some even demanded that he be fired from ESPN.

The thing is, Subban is really entertaining and the fact that he gets into it with fans on Twitter, not feeling like he has to change his ways to please some viewers. From the start of the postseason, Subban has been cheering for his former team, the Devils, and I bet he will be on the edge on Thursday night as New Jersey faces elimination in Game 5.
