P.K. Subban's agent on a possible return to Montreal.

Subban's agent speaks out.

For a very long time there has been an ongoing love affair between the city of Montreal and National Hockey League star P.K. Subban, and for good reason. Subban was not only an incredibly dynamic player during his tenure with the Montreal Canadiens, but he also did a tremendous amount for the city in terms of his charitable efforts, most notably donating millions of dollars to the children's hospital in that city.

Perhaps for that reason it should have come as no surprise this week when rumors began to circulate about Subban making a potential return to his former team. It would makes sense for the Canadiens, a team that in many ways is currently going through the motions as their newly appointed leadership team of executive vice president Jeff Gorton and general manager Kent Hughes lead them through a difficult rebuild, and having an attraction like Subban on the ice to draw in fans could certainly be viewed as a positive during a time like that.

From Subban's perspective it would be the chance to play out what is likely to be one of the final seasons of his career on a team where he is well respected and beloved by the fan base, while also earning good money in the process.

In spite of the fact that it might appear to make some sense for both parties on the surface, it sounds like the rumors may be nothing but hot air. A recent report from journalist Jeremy Filosa of 98.5 Sport in Montreal has all but squashed the rumors dead.

On Saturday morning Filosa, who reported speaking to Subban's agent Don Meehan, indicated that there is no truth whatsoever to the rumors. In fact according to Filaso there has been no contact whatsoever between the Montreal Canadiens and Don Meehan, at least not as far as P.K. Subban is concerned.

Although the Habs and Subban haven't had any talks as of yet there is still a possibility that they could do so when we get closer to the start of the regular season. That being said it appears there is no truth to the rumor as things currently stand.
