The former National Hockey League defenseman makes a very bold prediction after seeing his former team go down early to the Carolina Hurricanes.
The second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs is underway and unfortunately for a few teams that has meant a harsh reality check as they have run into a tough opponent determined to advance to the next round of what is arguably the sporting world's most grueling tournament.
Among those teams are the New Jersey Devils who on Friday night were trounced by the Carolina Hurricanes for the second game in a row, losing Game 2 by a score of 6-1. The Devils have been outscored 11 to 2 over the course of the first two games in this series and as a result many are already counting them out, this in spite of the comeback they pulled off against the New York Rangers in round 1.
You can hardly blame anyone who holds that opinion given the level of dominance the Hurricanes have shown in each of those games, but in the early hours of Saturday morning one former NHL player made it clear he did not share that opinion.
In what will no doubt go down as one of the bolder predictions made during these Stanley Cup playoffs, former New Jersey Devils defenseman P.K. Subban has predicted yet another comeback for the Devils in these playoffs by picking them to win the series in 7 games.
Subban tried to draw in some support from his colleagues on social media regarding his pick, tagging Steve Levy, John Buccigross and Arda Ocal in his tweet, but none of them have co-signed his rather brash prediction. The Subbanator may be alone in his belief that the Devils can still win this series.
