Panarin & Marchand get heated on the bench and the glove comes off!

Panarin had enough.

Brad Marchand has made a name for himself with his ability to get under the skin of his opposition, and on Friday afternoon he was at it once again.

This time the notorious Boston Bruins agitator managed to get under the skin of New York Rangers forward Artemi Panarin but instead of leading to any kind of serious altercation between the two men, it instead provided a little bit of comic relief towards the end of a hard fought game.

I'm not sure exactly what led to the heated discussion between Marchand and Panarin but by the time the cameras were on them we could see that the two were engaged with one another. Each man was standing at the end of his respective bench and although we couldn't hear what they were saying, the body language from both men is enough to let you know they were not merely making dinner plans for later in the evening.

I have no idea who won the war of words but if I had to place a bet my wager would be on Marchand. Again I have no clue what was actually said, but at one point Marchand said something that prompted a physical response from Panarin. After a little jawing back and forth Panarin took his own glove and tossed it over a National Hockey League official that had positioned himself between the two men, and hit Marchand right in the chest with the object.

I think Panarin may have already had this one in mind as he appears to be sliding the glove off of his left hand long before he eventually lets it rip, but I'm only speculating. Here's a look at the replay of the incident:

In spite of the fact that Panarin was in clear violation of the rules there was no penalty for the infraction. The game was already over at that point so calling a penalty would have been pointless, and I highly doubt the league's Department of Player Safety would even consider a suspension in a matter as trivial as this one. That being said I wouldn't be shocked if Panarin does end up with some kind of fine as a result, but I wouldn't count on it.
