Earlier this week, an awesome picture of the Florida Panthers’ new center ice logo was revealed on social media, and immediately, fans were loving the look and the wink at the Stanley Cup inspiration.

Panthers employee reportedly fired amidst Stanley Cup controversy!

However, not everyone was happy about the leaked image as Miami-based sports reporter Andy Slater of FOX Sports 640, an employee was fired by the team after the picture showed the Panthers new center ice design, which modelled the top of the Stanley Cup to celebrated the franchise’s first championship after this summer’s triumph.

The employee is not identified in the report, but Slater did specify that the Panthers were planning to unveil the design before an image of the ice appeared on social media.

It seems kind of extreme to fire the poor employee, who may not have known the logo was not to be shared prior to a specific date. Since the image got out, the Panthers have publicly revealed the new logo for home games at Amerant Bank Arena during the 2024-25 season.

Florida won the 2024 Stanley Cup after defeating the Oilers in seven games in a thrilling series in which Edmonton fought back from a 3-0 Florida lead before the Panthers closed down game 7 for the franchise’s first title in their 30 year history.

The logo at center ice will be a great reminder of the accomplishment, though also a tough reminder to the poor employee who got fired.
