Panthers fan gets threatened by Oilers fans Before Game 1

I mean... what'd you expect, buddy? Waltzing around Rogers Place with a Marchand jersey? C'mon...

Trevor Connors

In case you missed it last night, the Edmonton Oilers earned a Game 1 overtime victory over the Florida Panthers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

It was an outstanding game, packed with action from the very beginning. Both teams firing on all cylinders and hockey teams were treated to some fantastic play.

My unbiased opinion: Both these teams are good.

Matthew Tkachuk's biased opinion: Both these teams are good.

Tkachuk was asked post-game for his thoughts on the Oilers and whether or not they've improved since last year's Cup Final. His response?

“They’re better, we’re better, it’s going to be a great series,” Tkachuk said.

Amen!

I think we've got an absolute classic of a series on our hands!

And if the fan reaction at Rogers Place is any indication of what's to come, we could have some serious hate brewing between these two teams. While there were no fights or particularly malicious encounters in Game 1, the hometown crowd at Rogers Place were boo'ing the Panthers all night long.

In fact, the Oilers' faithful let the Panthers know their place long-before puck drop... and I'm not evening talking about the loud boo'ing during player introductions. I'm talking about the atmosphere outside the arena before fans were even admitted into the building.

Check out this clip of TSN social media personality Jesse Pollock rocking a Panthers Brad Marchand jersey outside Rogers Place pre-game.

I mean... what do you expect, bud?

Pollock and the BarDown crew are known for trying to provoke a reaction with stunts like this, so they likely knew exactly what was coming their way. Still, I would have loved to see him try to worm his way out of an altercation. Or, is that just me?
