Panthers' Kyle Okposo “crushed” by technology failure
The reigning Cup champ is one of many affected today.
A planned appearance with the Stanley Cup by veteran forward Kyle Okposo, who won his first championship earlier this spring as a member of the Florida Panthers, was unfortunately cancelled as a result of the widespread technology failure affecting computer systems running Windows OS.
Okposo, who was scheduled to make a public appearance with the hallowed trophy at Pagel Arena in Minnesota, may be forced to reschedule the event. And according to NHL Insider Michael Russo, he was "crushed".
"'I’m crushed,' a very disappointed Okposo tells me. They’re currently trying to figure out how to get the Cup here so Okposo can still have some semblance of his day with the Cup."
The Cup is still stuck in St. Louis, where it was brought to the elementary school of forward Matthew Tkachuk during his personal day with the trophy.
Okposo was the first player to receive the Cup from captain Aleksander Barkov; his first chance to lift the Cup in 18 NHL seasons.
