GM Bill Zito is wasting no time in re-shaping the Stanley Cup champions.
This just in, according to a report from NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Florida Panthers have acquired goaltender Daniil Tarasov from the Columbus Blue Jackets via a trade.
Details of the deal are not yet known.
The 26 year old Tarasov is a pending RFA who is coming off a three year deal that paid him $1.05 million per season.
He does not have great statistics over the past few years but... well... none of the Blue Jackets' goaltenders do. They have no been a good defensive team and their goaltenders have struggled as a result.
It's expected that Tarasov will take the back-up role behind Sergei Bobrovsky with the Panthers, taking the spot of pending UFA Vitek Vanecek.
