Panthers make another trade, pick up tough guy Hathaway from Flyers

This just in, the Florida Panthers have acquired forward Garnet Hathaway from the Philadelphia Flyers in a swap of draft picks.

Hathaway has carved out a respected NHL career by doing the kind of work that teams need but that rarely shows up on highlight reels. Hathaway brings over a decade of NHL experience to the Panthers, a relentless physical style, and the type of veteran leadership that has become synonymous with successful playoff hockey. Throughout his career with the Calgary Flames, Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, and Flyers, Hathaway has built a reputation as one of the league's premier energy forwards, combining hard forechecking, physical play, penalty killing, and a willingness to make life miserable for opposing defensemen. He has consistently been among the NHL's leaders in hits and has proven capable of chipping in timely offense despite spending most of his career in a bottom-six role.
