The Florida Panthers have pulled off two trades today, less than 24 hours before the start of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

After picking up goaltender Daniil Tarasov in a deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Panthers GM Bill Zito has made another deal this time with the Washington Capitals. Heading to DC is forward Justin Sourdif in exchange for a 2nd round pick and a 6th round pick.

The 24 year old Sourdif is a pending restricted free agent who put up 10 points in 18 games with the Panthers' AHL affiliate Charlotte Checkers in the Calder Cup run this season. He has played just four NHL games in his short career, but this trade should give him a new opportunity with a new team.

This just in, according to a report from NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Florida Panthers have acquired goaltender Daniil Tarasov from the Columbus Blue Jackets via a trade.

Details of the deal are not yet known.

The 26 year old Tarasov is a pending RFA who is coming off a three year deal that paid him $1.05 million per season.

He does not have great statistics over the past few years but... well... none of the Blue Jackets' goaltenders do. They have no been a good defensive team and their goaltenders have struggled as a result.

It's expected that Tarasov will take the back-up role behind Sergei Bobrovsky with the Panthers, taking the spot of pending UFA Vitek Vanecek.
