An incredible display of class from the Panthers during the most stressful time of the season.
Although hockey fans are impatiently waiting for the start of the Stanley Cup Final next week, for the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers these next several days off will prove crucial in their respective preparations for the opponent they will meet in the Final for the second time in as many years.
These days off are important for both teams and it is for that very same reason that the actions of the Florida Panthers on Saturday were nothing short of a brilliant display of class.
In spite of the fact that this is arguably the most stressful time of the year for the Panthers, the team made a point of participating in the Gaudreau Family 5k. The Gaudreau Family 5k is an event that took place on Saturday to honor the memories of National Hockey League star Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew who were killed by a drunk driver late last year.
The Panthers not only participated in the event, again a tremendous show of class with such an important series ahead, but served as a walking billboard for the fundraiser as well. All of the players and those who had gathered to walk with them could be seen wearing official Gaudreau Family 5k gear, showing their support by walking and doing a tremendous job of bringing awareness to the event all at the same time.
The guys really went all out with some pushing baby strollers and others carrying their young children, another sign that the Panthers were truly committed to honoring the memories of both Matthew and Johnny on Saturday.
