
The defending Stanley Cup champions begin offloading players
This just in, the Florida Panthers have traded veteran defenseman Jeff Petry to the Minnesota Wild for a 7th round draft pick.
The 38 yyear old Petry has played 58 games with the Panthers this season, picking up 8 assists along the way. He's on a one year deal worth an NHL minimum $775,000 which he signed last offseason in the hopes of winning a Stanley Cup championship with the Panthers.
With the Panthers now looking like their playoff hopes are dead, the team did him a solid and shipped him to another Stanley Cup contender.

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers President of Hockey Operations & General Manager Bill Zito announced today that the club has acquired the Minnesota Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2026 NHL Draft (conditional) in exchange for defenseman Jeff Petry.
Petry, 38, appeared in 58 games with Florida in 2025-26, producing eight assists (0-8-8). He skated in his 1,000th career NHL game on Nov. 17 vs. the Vancouver Canucks, becoming the 14th player to reach the milestone while with the Panthers.
