Pastrnak scores a ridiculous goal to open the scoring against Rangers

Seriously... how does this go in? Just a crazy goal.

Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak continued his ridiculous play this season with an equally ridiculous goal to open up the scoring against the New York Rangers this evening.

I mean... just watch this snipe from a crazy angle:

Seriously... how does that go in?

Talk about threading the needle!

Unfortunately, it hasn't been all good news for the Bruins today. According to a report from Bruins insider Matt Porter, Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman and defenseman Derek Forbort have both left the team and will be out of the lineup indefinitely with injury.

An absolutely brutal break for two guys who have taken a real step with the team in the past year.

Obviously, Swayman is looking to take a step this season after a solid rookie campaign last year. The 23 year old native of Achorage, Alaska put up 23 wins in 41 games last season and posted a very respectable 2.41 goals against average and .914 save percentage. He has struggled a bit to start this season with a 3.45 goals against average and a .878 save percentage, but the Bruins have bailed him out. To be fair, it's early in the season though and starter Linus Ullmark has been fantastic. Even if Swayman were to work himself into a full-time backup role, I don't think it would be seen as a step back. He's just two years removed from playing college hockey and has just 14 games of AHL experience under his belt. The fact that he has 55 games of NHL experience so far is a testament to just how good the Bruins have fostered his development. Here's hoping that this injury is nothing serious and that he can get his season back on track as soon as possible.

As for Forbort, the 30 year old blue liner has been solid to start the season with one goal and three points in 10 games. He managed four goals and 14 points in 76 games with the Bruins last season and has 13 goals and 82 points in 417 career games split between the Bruins, Winnipeg Jets and Los Angeles Kings. After a few listless seasons kicking between Los Angeles, Calgary and Winnipeg, the big defenseman seems to have found a real home on the Bruins' blue line. Much like Swayman, I'm pulling for Forbort to get back to full health because he seems to have really found a home for the first time in his NHL career.
