The Detroit Red Wings took a tremendous risk when they agreed to sign future Hall of Fame forward Patrick Kane to a contract in late November, as he had just come off of hip-resurfacing surgery.

However, he's looked almost as every bit as good as the player who established himself as arguably the greatest American-born forward of all time with the Chicago Blackhawks. And he can become an unrestricted free agent this summer. The question on the minds of fans everywhere - will he be back with Detroit next season?

Absolutely, I mean of course. Like I said I've loved my time here, I think we have other things at stake right now and other things to focus on, so we'll worry about that and focus on that after the year."

Kane has scored 20 goals with 27 assists in 49 games, just slightly under a point per game pace. The Red Wings have greatly benefitted from Kane's presence in the lineup, and it would be a great fit for both parties for the relationship to continue.

We'll see what GM Steve Yzerman has up his sleeve this summer.
