Patrick Kane is returning to where the greatest moments of his NHL career took place.
Patrick Kane has announced a return to the city where he carved his name into the National Hockey League history books, the City of Chicago.
This week Kane announced that he would be making his return to the city for a good cause, hosting an autograph signing as well as a question and answer session on stage in support of the 1616 program.
The 1616 program was founded by none other than fellow former Chicago Blackhawks star Andrew Ladd and his wife Brandy as part of the Ladd Foundation. The 1616 program is a 16 week mental, physical, and social well being experience for youth hockey teams. The program's focus is on mental health and helping young hockey players overcome and understand the challenges that they face by revealing how those same challenges are faced by professional athletes like Ladd and Kane.
That Kane is making an effort to support youth hockey in the City of Chicago, years after he no longer plays for the Blackhawks, is a beautiful gesture on hs part and speaks to the bond that he and Ladd formed during their many years playing in Chicago together. Kane and Ladd of course won a pair of Stanley Cup championships alongside one another, moments that have no doubt bonded the men for life.
Unfortunately despite this being for a good cause the responses to Kane's announcement have been mixed, with many Blackhawks fans understandably hoping that he would return to the city in a playing capacity.
That sentiment is of course completely normal and although there have been many fans stating they are hoping he would come back and play for the Blackhawks, I am sure many of those same fans will support his upcoming event in Chicago and make it a huge success for the Ladd Foundation.
