The Chicago Blackhawks collectively held their breath when they saw their star forward shaken up after a huge hit on Sunday night.
Kane was caught with his head down trying to penetrate the Minnesota Wild's zone when Wild defenseman Matt Dumba crushed Kane with a huge open ice hit that left Kane rocked and down on the ice. Kane had lost the puck in his skates when attempting to cross the blue line, and Dumba took full advantage.
The hit did appear to deliver a good portion of the impact to the head of Kane, but it did not appear that Dumba was targetting Kane's head in any way. In fact one could argue that Dumba was attempting to avoid doing just that, as the slow motion replay reveals Dumba tucking his arm tight to his body and he may even duck slightly before the collision.
Luckily for Chicago Kane would return to the game, but it certainly looked like he was a little out of hit immediately following the hit.
