It was a rough night for the Chicago Blackhawks and even more so for star forward Patrick Kane.

Nick Bonino recorded a natural hat trick while star goalie Pikka Rinne made 20 saves for his second consecutive shutout and the Nashville Predators beat the Hawks 3-0 on Tuesday night. The struggling Blackhawks have now lost five of their last six outings.

And Kane just snapped.

In the third period of the contest, already three goals behind, Kane played aggressively and was caught for hooking Matt Irwin. He was quite unhappy with the call and made the mistake of letting the official know about his anger.

Kane received an additional unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for telling the referee to f**k off on the play. Right after the call is made on the ice, the Hawks’ forward flips out and is believed to have reacted to the penalty, which gave him an extra two minutes in the sin bin.

The Blackhawks will need to find a way to get going this season. We cannot blame netminder Robin Lehner for last night’s 3-0 loss: he is doing everything he can to keep his team afloat. He made 48 saves in the loss.

Even Rinne pointed to the Hawks’ lack of aggressive offence when speaking after the game.

“For me, personally, it was one of the for sure easier shutouts,” Rinne said after stopping 20 shots.

That maybe why Kane was so frustrated… he knew he could be doing more.
