There has been so much chatter on the future of both Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane with the Chicago Blackhawks. The latter finally adresses the rumours that he could demand a trade out of Chicago on Wednesday.
There were talks that new Blackhawks general Manager Kyle Davidson was going to meet with Toews and Kane to know how they feel about the impending rebuild. And it almost looks like Kane didn’t want to wait to share his decision : he wants to finish his career with the Hawks.
“It’d be an honor and privilege.”
We get why Davidson has to have the tough conversation with the two faces of the franchise. This is a new start in Chicago, filled with uncertainty and opportunity. Toews and Kane are eligible to hit the market as unrestricted free agents in the summer of 2023 and they have to wonder what moves is best for them, in the last years of their respective careers.
But clearly, Kane wants to stay in Chicago and help guide young prospects to a strong future.
That’s just awesome for the Hawks and their fanbase.
